Once, in the early 60s of the last century, the mayor of the city of Figueres, where Dali was born, asked the great artist to give the city one of his paintings.
But Salvador decided not to waste time on trifles and donated more than one work, but decided to create an entire museum. 😎

🏫This museum was built on the site of the old municipal theater. Despite the fact that the building was destroyed due to a fire during the Spanish Civil War, this did not stop the artist.
⠀In 1974 the theater building was restored.

🎨The museum’s collection now includes more than 1,500 works of art: paintings, sculptures, engravings, photographs, installations, holograms and much more.
Each room in the museum is a unique example of high art with compositions of furniture, paintings and other decorations.

By the way, it is in this building that there is a crypt where Salvador Dali is buried. Which makes this museum even more attractive to tourists. 😉
