The Atlantic Ocean, dense forests and legends of meiga witches: six days in Spain's most mysterious north.

Galicia is unlike the rest of Spain. Huge waves crash against the cliffs, and locals once believed that even stones, trees and water had a soul. That's where the myths of wizards and the meiga come from: the Galician sorceress and a cousin of the Slavic Baba Yaga.

You'll see Vigo from above, taste Albariño in the O Salnés valley, discover how mussels are farmed in O Grove, the seafood capital, and stroll through the fishing village of Combarro with its hórreo granaries and stone crosses.

The grand finale is Santiago de Compostela, the city pilgrims walk to from all over the world, followed by a walk to the ocean.

Itinerary

Day 1

Departure and a day on the road

A day of travel with short stops where you can grab a snack (at your own expense). In the evening, arrival at the hotel, check-in and dinner.

Day 2

Vigo – Cambados – O Salnés valley

Vigo

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Vigo, one of the main cities of southern Galicia: relatively young, cosmopolitan and industrial. The Del Castro viewpoint offers a panorama of the city and port, a great spot for photos. Then back to the hotel for lunch.

Cambados and Albariño wine

After lunch, the picturesque O Salnés valley and the town of Cambados, rich in architectural heritage and home of the famous Albariño wine. A tasting takes place at the Rías Baixas winery (included in the tour price), and you can buy wine there too. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3

A Coruña: optional excursion

A city on a peninsula between two bays: one holds the port, the other the Orzán and Riazor beaches. María Pita Square, the city hall, the Méndez Núñez gardens and the Tower of Hercules, the oldest working lighthouse in the world and a World Heritage Site since 2009. You can drop into one of the museums: the archaeological and history museum in San Antón Castle, or the clock museum.

The optional excursion costs €50. If you'd rather not go, you can explore the town where your hotel is located.

Day 4

O Grove, La Toja, Pontevedra, Combarro

O Grove

Breakfast at the hotel, then the morning in O Grove, known as the seafood capital. The coach takes us across the bridge, and the walking tour of O Grove itself is included in the tour price. The group then returns to the mainland, where you can join an optional cruise on a tourist boat around the Ría de Arousa to see how mussels, oysters and scallops are grown. On board, there's a tasting of mussels and Albariño wine. The boat trip is extra: €18 per person.

La Toja island

A picturesque early twentieth-century bridge links the O Grove peninsula to La Toja island, perfect for stunning photos. Back to the hotel for lunch.

Pontevedra

Legend has it the city was founded by Teucer, a hero of the Trojan War. Today Pontevedra is one of the richest towns in Galicia for Romanesque heritage. We'll see the eighteenth-century Peregrina church, almost round in shape, with a Baroque façade and neoclassical touches, the fourteenth-to-fifteenth-century church of San Francisco and the sixteenth-century basilica of Santa María.

Combarro

A fishing village with historic Galician hórreo granaries: there are around 30 of them here, and they are protected as architectural monuments. Beside the houses stand stone crucifixes, the cruceiros, placed to ward off evil spirits; the oldest dates from 1727. And a lovely view of the port. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5

Santiago de Compostela

Breakfast and a full-day excursion to Santiago de Compostela. People come here from all over the world to walk the Way of St James, touch holy places and reflect on life. It's the place Paulo Coelho wrote about in his book. The city is full of architectural masterpieces, and its cathedral of the same name was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.

A walk to the ocean

In the afternoon, a walk to the ocean: the untamed spirit of the elements and the most romantic photos. There's no time to get back to the hotel for lunch: you'll be given a light snack to take along, though many prefer to have lunch at their own expense in a café in Santiago, and there will be free time for that.

Day 6

Return

Breakfast at the hotel and departure. Short stops along the way where you can grab a snack (at your own expense). Back in Torrevieja at around 22:00.

Именно такой для меня стала наша поездка в Галицию с удивительной хрупкой, как девочка, гидом Надеждой! 🇪🇸❤️

С первого дня и до самого возвращения это было настоящее путешествие — насыщенное, красивое, интересное и одновременно очень теплое.

Мы увидели столько прекрасных мест: Виго, Камбадос, долину О Сальнес, О-Грове, Ла-Тоху, Понтеведру, Комбарро и, конечно же, легендарный Сантьяго-де-Компостела.

Море, океан, старинные улочки, храмы, каменные домики, маленькие рыбацкие поселения, виноградники, потрясающие пейзажи…
И, конечно, настоящая Галиция — с ее великолепным вином Альбариньо, морепродуктами и особенной атмосферой.

Ее отношение к людям, внимание к каждому, прекрасная организация, чувство юмора, доброжелательность и огромное желание сделать так, чтобы каждому из нас было хорошо.

Казалось бы, мы все приехали просто на экскурсию.
А в итоге стали маленькой дружной компанией, которая вместе смеялась, удивлялась, любовалась красотой, фотографировалась, дегустировала вино и просто наслаждалась жизнью.

Особенно важным для меня был Сантьяго-де-Компостела.

Я давно мечтала побывать там. И хотя в этот раз я ехала не самостоятельно как паломница, для меня это все равно была моя личная, особенная паломническая поездка.

И, возможно, именно поэтому этот день навсегда останется в моем сердце. ❤️

Были в путешествии с любимой компанией по Галисии. Эти места обязательно надо посетить! Нам показали очень много - от рыбацкой деревни, до столицы! Конечно близость океана дает себя знать переменчивой погодой, но нам повезло( кроме последнего дня). По поводу переездов все было на отлично, и водители профессионалы да и группа была дисциплинирована, несмотря на все занятые места. Отель. Компания предупредила о форс мажорной смене отеля и даже предлагала вернуть деньги, но опасения были не так ужасны. Да отель не новый. Но кормили отлично, без ограничений добавки и вино... Сопровождение от компании. Мы первый раз ездили с Виталием и , конечно, критично к нему отнеслись в начале. Но он проявил себя на отлично. Во первых такт в общении, вежливость, спокойствие. Группе очень нравились легенды которые он рассказывал во время переездов. Некоторые рекомендации компании: 1. Заменить винодельню, куда нас возили-всего один сорт вина и не лучшего вкуса( по мнению части группы). 2. В Сантьяго де Компостела лучше иметь местного профессионального гида( как заявлено было в программе поездки). Так же желательно иметь план б на случай дождя. Например рекомендации по посещению музеев или выставок, так как было много свободного времени. Но конечно все эти проблемы с лихвой окупились участием в мессе в центральном соборе, встречей с пилигримами, конечно, прекрасными блюдами из даров океана!
