The cities of Galicia

Discover the real Galicia — the green north-west of Spain, where the Atlantic meets ancient history and medieval streets sit side by side with modern life.

Choose from four separate tours of four very different cities: Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña, Lugo or Vigo.

We follow in the footsteps of pilgrims in legendary Santiago, see the Atlantic and the famous glass galleries of A Coruña, touch the Roman past of Lugo and feel the energetic seafaring spirit of Vigo.

Along the way: Galician legends, Celtic traditions, the ocean, oysters, tapas, Albariño wine and stories you will not find in ordinary guidebooks.

This trip is for those who want not just to see Galicia, but to feel its character.

Itinerary

10:00

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

Join me for a walking tour of the old city of Santiago de Compostela, where every stone breathes history and creates an atmosphere of solemn grandeur.

Wandering through the maze of narrow medieval streets, we will admire the exquisite architecture of the old town and uncover the secrets behind its façades. It is no accident that the entire historic centre of Santiago is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You will learn why this small city is famous all over the world and why it draws thousands of pilgrims from every corner of the globe each year. We will get to know Santiago's character through the legends and stories told by locals.

We will also talk about Galicia: what the Celts and witches have to do with the region, where the bagpipe comes in, and what the flaming magic drink is that Galicians prepare.

We will find out how today's cloistered nuns live, and notice the symbols and signs most travellers walk past — and much, much more.

The tour is private, so its content is always tailored to the guests' interests. I hope it will help you not only get to know Santiago but also touch Galicia itself — understand and feel this region better and perhaps fall in love with it too.

Duration: 2 hours.

10:00

A CORUÑA

A Coruña is a true pearl of the Atlantic, a city with a special character where history is closely intertwined with the ocean and modern life.

During the tour we will explore the historic centre, learn the city's history and talk about how A Coruña was connected with emigration to North and South America.

We will see the famous glass galleries — one of the city's trademarks — feel its special atmosphere and hear stories that help to understand the character of A Coruña and its people.

If you like, we can stop for a short coffee break simply to enjoy the city and its atmosphere.

Duration: 2–3 hours

10:00

LUGO

Lugo is a city with a unique Roman heritage. Its historic centre is completely surrounded by a beautifully preserved Roman wall, and we will definitely walk along it.

During the tour we will get to know the city's ancient past and see traces of the Roman settlement of Lucus Augusti: archaeological windows, fragments of ancient buildings, mosaics and other evidence of the Roman era.

If you wish, you can visit the cathedral. The entrance ticket is paid separately.

We will also drop into local tapas bars and discover Lugo's gastronomic side.

Duration: 2 hours

10:00

VIGO

Vigo is the largest and perhaps one of the most controversial cities in Galicia — a city with a strong seafaring character, a rich history and a special atmosphere.

During the tour we will get to know the history of Vigo and learn about its close ties with the sea, about smuggling and legends of sunken treasure.

We will talk about the famous Galician oysters and how they are farmed, remember the footballer Valeri Karpin and stroll along the oyster street — one of the city's most characteristic food spots. And of course we will not forget Galician Albariño wine.

We will also talk about why Vigo is called the Christmas capital, what the city is known for today and why its residents love it.

Duration: 2 hours
