You'll visit a ranch where fighting bulls are raised, ride around it on a tractor while a professional torero tells its story, and even step into the ring yourself for a capea, facing a young bull that is never killed.

Then comes paella cooked over an open fire and a country lunch with Murcia wines. In the evening, a novillada at the Murcia Bullring: young novilleros, the matadors of tomorrow, and stands that fall silent before every entrance.

Fighting bull ranch

Capea: your turn in the ring

The capea is a popular festivity rooted in Spain's rural traditions. Any adult who wants to can step into the ring, tease a young bull with a cape, try to dodge it or even leap over it, and the bull is never killed.

There's none of the strict ritual of a professional bullfight here: just lots of laughter, shouting, music and that famous Spanish temperament.

Paella over an open fire and a country lunch

A masterclass in cooking paella over an open fire. Then a country lunch with homemade wines from the Murcia region and beer.

Novillada at the Murcia Bullring

After lunch, an evening novillada, a contest of young bullfighters, at the Murcia Bullring. Your seats are on the shaded side.

The bulls are young, aged 3 to 4, and the fighters are novilleros: fully trained professionals who have not yet passed the main test (the alternativa) that grants the official title of matador. As at a regular bullfight, the young bulls are killed during the novillada.
