In December, Europe is at its most beautiful: glittering lights, decorated streets, towering Christmas trees and the scent of mulled wine.

Strasbourg, rightly called the Christmas capital of Europe, turns into a true winter fairy tale. It hosts one of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe, with the Gothic Notre-Dame Cathedral soaring above the city.

Festive Saarbrücken offers an evening market with a Christmas tree and twinkling lights. Luxembourg welcomes you with the Grand Ducal Palace and fortifications lit by thousands of lights.

And in Trier, Germany's oldest city, wooden stalls with pastries, sweets and souvenirs stand beside the Porta Nigra and St. Peter's Cathedral.

Itinerary

Day 1

Christmas in Strasbourg

Flight Alicante – Karlsruhe (Baden-Baden), departing at 09:30. After meeting at the airport, we drive to Strasbourg, arriving at around 13:30. Tour: Notre-Dame Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, the historic centre with its canals and old quarters, and the European district with the European Parliament and the Council of Europe.

Christmas market

One of the oldest and best-known Christmas markets in Europe: Alsatian dishes, French delicacies, sweets, hot mulled wine, handicrafts and souvenirs. In the evening we leave for Saarbrücken, arriving around 22:00, and check in to a comfortable 3★ hotel.

Day 2

Christmas in Saarbrücken

Breakfast at the hotel and a tour of a city of contrasts: German solidity, French charm and Baroque style. From Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof station along the pedestrian Bahnhofstraße to the eighteenth-century St. John's Basilica, then the old town and St. Johanner Markt square, the Old Bridge over the Saar, Saarbrücken Castle with its viewing terrace and the Ludwigskirche, the symbol of the city.

Evening market

After the tour, free time: a café, a stroll along the Saar or a rest at the hotel. In the evening you can visit the Christmas market: the tree, the lights, delicious treats and a glass of hot mulled wine.

Day 3

Christmas in Luxembourg

Breakfast at the hotel, departure at 10:00. At Christmas, the capital of the Grand Duchy becomes a city of light. Its historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Grand Ducal Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the famous city fortifications and beautiful squares.

Luxembourg's markets

Luxembourgish, French, German and Belgian food, mulled wine, sweets and souvenirs. Free time for a stroll and photos. In the evening, return to the hotel.

Day 4

Christmas in Trier

Breakfast at the hotel, departure at 9:00. Germany's oldest city, with more than two thousand years of history: the Black Gate (Porta Nigra), St. Peter's Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Germany, the Market Square, the Basilica of Constantine and monuments from Roman times.

Market and flight home

Wooden stalls with German dishes, pastries, hot drinks and souvenirs. Then a transfer to Frankfurt-Hahn airport, arriving at around 15:30. Flight to Alicante at 20:00.

Pickup details

The group meets at Karlsruhe (Baden-Baden) airport after the flight from Alicante (departing at 09:30). On the last day, transfer to Frankfurt-Hahn airport, arriving at around 15:30.

A transfer from your home to Alicante airport and back can be arranged on request at extra cost.
