In Tomar, a monastery in Portugal's unique Manueline style awaits. At Alcobaça Abbey, you'll taste ginjinha and liqueurs and hear a love story 1000 years in the making.

Lisbon before the holiday means Belém Tower, the Jerónimos Monastery, the yellow tram and a famous pastry. Then on 31 December: dinner, a ’90s and ’00s disco, Grandfather Frost with the Snow Maiden, and fireworks.

Itinerary

Day 1

28 December: via Toledo

Departure at 7 a.m. from Torrevieja bus station, with rest stops along the way. We'll visit the Toledo viewpoints and the famous workshops of Toledo damascene, gold inlaid on steel.

In the evening, hotel check-in and dinner.

Day 2

29 December: Templar monasteries

Breakfast, then off to Tomar and a true wonder: the Monastery of the Holy Cross, built in Portugal's unique Manueline style and listed among the masterpieces of human genius. Lunch at the hotel.

Alcobaça Abbey

In the afternoon, a tasting of ginjinha and liqueurs (included). You can visit the Templar Monastery (UNESCO) and hear a love story 1000 years in the making. Back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 3

30 December: Lisbon before the holiday

Breakfast, then a full day in Lisbon, with a packed picnic for everyone. Belém Tower, the Cathedral, the Jerónimos Monastery (museum tickets not included), a panoramic coach tour, viewpoints and a walking tour.

Free time in the historic centre: try the world-famous pastry and ride the iconic yellow tram if you like. In the evening, back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 4

31 December: Porto and New Year's Eve

Breakfast. Optional excursion to Porto: €50 per person, including a boat trip under the seven bridges of the Douro. On the way back, a port wine tasting.

New Year's Eve

Dinner at the hotel and the New Year celebration: a ’90s and ’00s disco, games hosted by Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden, and festive fireworks. Guest musicians will perform traditional Portuguese fado. The bar stays open until morning (drinks not included in the tour price).

Day 5

1 January: Fátima and the ocean at Nazaré

Late breakfast and lunch, followed by a tour of Fátima. Then on to Nazaré: the highest waves in the world and viewpoints with stunning ocean views. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6

2 January: the journey home

An early start at 5 a.m. because of the time difference between Spain and Portugal. Rest stops along the way.
